“Ridg-U-Rak’s Drive-In rack system design maxed our freezer space and improved our ability to expedite shipments.” Gary Kyle, Operations Manager, Better Baked Foods
With demand for its Frozen French Bread Pizza soaring, Better Baked Foods recently added a 250,000 sq ft food processing plant in Erie, PA. The first order of business was to build a 60,000 sq ft freezer. Kept at a constant -18 F, this freezer is extremely expensive real estate and requires high-density storage.
Requirements - Storage System
• High volume of similar size product
• Ships truckloads of a small number of SKUs
• Maximize the number of pallet positions
System – Ridg-U-Rak Drive-In “System 2000”
• 1,750 double-stacked pallet positions
• 3 levels of 96-inch high pallet positions
• System uses 5, 6, 7 and 9 deep lanes as well as a 5/6 deep “island” driv--in system.
• 3” x4” roll-formed columns, 25’4” tall uprights
• Heavy-duty Slant-baks on all entry points
Drive-In Rack “System 2000” with Space Saver Rails
Drive-In and Drive-Thru systems store product on continuous rails that may run from 3 to 12 positions deep. By allowing lift trucks to enter the rack structure to place and retrieve pallets, fewer aisles are required thus increasing storage density. These “Last-In, First-Out” storage systems are ideal for warehousing similar products on like-sized pallets.
Ridg-U-Rak typically incorporates slant back and column reinforcement to protect against the additional abuse common with these systems. The Space Saver Rail design is the strongest on the market.
Columns Sizes: 3” x 2-1/4”, 3” x 3” and 4” x 3”
