MONTREAL, May 13, 2003 - TECSYS Inc. (TSX: TCS), a leading Supply Chain Management (SCM) software company announced today it has signed a major agreement with Edelstein Diversified Co. Ltd. to implement the EliteSeries’ suite of enterprise distribution management applications. TECSYS’ software will streamline the North American business management of Edelstein’s complex distribution requirements.
Edelstein, supplier of the ECHOtape brand, is a leader in specialty pressure sensitive tapes. Corporate headquarters are located in Montreal, QC, with warehousing facilities maintained in Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Norfolk, VA; Toronto, ON, Vancouver, BC; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Manchester, UK. ECHOtape products are used in every segment of the world’s industries, including leading manufacturers of aerospace, automotive, beverage, corrugated food, glass, metal, paper, plastic, tobacco and veneer products. Edelstein’s highly trained account representatives offer unique technical expertise in pressure sensitive tape solutions. The support staff in each location is highly trained to provide the optimal level of customer satisfaction. Edelstein’s signature “We Take Great Ideas And Make Them Stick” applies not only to their tape solutions but also in the choice of their software company. Edelstein currently operates their own financials and inventory management applications. The need to have the right product at the right location is critical and having multiple and different databases made finding information cumbersome and time consuming. With such complex business requirements, Edelstein searched for the best solution in the market to address its needs to more effectively manage inventory on a real-time basis across all of its operations. Standardized item management, sales force automation, and management tools to truly measure return on assets (ROA) were also critical to Edelstein’s ability to deliver its products on-time with the best customer service.
“We needed complete visibility of all aspects of our business. The ability to see our inventory, sales, backorders, and profitability by division, by location, and territory is critical to servicing our customers,” remarked Ron Shapiro, CFO at Edelstein. “Having one enterprise-wide solution for all locations means a significant reduction in duplicate business processes and time consuming searches for information. We looked at many applications and found EliteSeries has the only complete integrated suite of applications that was designed and built specifically for the distribution supplier market.” Shapiro added, “We also found that the TECSYS team was extremely professional and knowledgeable about our business challenges and our industry. An added bonus is we only have to deal with one company for our financial, distribution, warehouse and transportation management application needs.”
With its Web-based platform running the Oracle database, TECSYS’ fully integrated supply chain management suite will empower Edelstein with Distribution Management (DMS), Warehouse Management (WMS), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), and ECommerce modules. In addition, TECSYS will provide its remote order entry solution via Elite.eCom, allowing Edelstein’s sales reps on the road to work even more closely and efficiently with their customers. Key features include product and pricing updates, order status, order history, and inventory availability status. Such leading edge tools will allow the real-time flow of information from the field to the central command of Edelstein providing for true visibility of all aspects of the company’s business.
Peter Brereton, President and Co-CEO of TECSYS, stated, “The rich functionality inherent within EliteSeries and which addresses the specific needs of the distribution industry resulted in this win.” Brereton also commented, “Our partnership with Edelstein represents our proven ability to address the complex needs of a multi-location and multi-division business. This can only be achieved with a truly integrated suite of applications such as our EliteSeries solutions set.”
Edelstein is scheduled to go live with the EliteSeries by January of 2004.
