As a complement to its adaptive Creform® System for constructing material handling and logistical structures that help users to achieve continuous improvement goal and to meet lean manufacturing objectives, the Creform Corporation has introduced a new transport tool. Designated the GN-400, this new logistics tool is a polypropylene-platform dolly that, by itself, helps in moving part loads around facilities, and to aide in maintaining safe and clean work areas by providing a simple and maneuverable platform for keeping containers off the floor. The innovative design of the GN-400 dolly featuring molded tabs and corresponding slots that fit together, allow individual platform modules to be coupled, from either side and/or from either end, to form a cart with a larger base. No tools are required to assemble the cart modules and the units are just as easily disconnected for resumption of individualized use as service needs change.
Besides heavy-duty material handling applications, the new GN-400 dollies are economical enough for occasional use in the office, shop and factory environment, and even in the home basement, garage, and workshop. The dollies are ideal for moving furniture, appliances, equipment or boxes yet store in a compact space. Because they can be easily assembled, disassembled and rejoined, multiple carts are easily transported to off-site locations then, when coupled together, make a larger cart with high capacity…or used individually at each corner of a large load.
Each Module Cart is manufactured from sturdy polypropylene and measures 26-3/4” (L) x 15-3/4” (W) x 4-1/2” (H) (680 x 400 x 115 mm). Individual units offer 445 lbs. (200 kg) loading capacity and can be used in temperature settings of from 32o to 122o F (0 to 50° C). Modules may be equipped with either Ø75mm white nylon swivel casters as standard, or as an option, with Ø75mm black rubber wheel swivel casters. Fast and easy caster attachment and changeout is accomplished with a 11/16" (17mm) open end wrench.
For easy carrying, the carts feature molded hand grips with rounded edges and weigh just 8.4 lbs. (3.8 kg) with the nylon caster, or 9.3 lbs. (4.2 kg) if fitted with the rubber style caster. For convenient, safe and space-saving storage, the carts are stackable in both a uniform lengthwise stack or by alternating directions. Standard color for the main platform is gray, with black rubber stoppers. Special order colors are green, black, dark red and dark blue.
While the GN-400 cart modules are extremely flexible and support continuous improvement, the new cart modules are a departure from what most people know as the traditional Creform System. The Creform System typically involves building structures consisting of plastic-coated steel pipe, joints and hardware accessories that allow users to easily design, fabricate and assemble lean, adaptive and ergonomic structures to meet specific application needs. With the array of joints styles and accessories offered, examples of material handling structures possible using the Creform System include single angle and dual angle flow racks; simple part presentation stands; push carts and trailers; roller conveyors; hinged shelf carts; tilting racks and tables; height adjustable work tables and workstations along with the portable tool cribs and storage units. It can also be used to implement economical and easy-to-install Automated Guided Vehicle systems for efficient automated material delivery units.
