SANTA CLARITA, Calif.—It wasn’t quite a speedy getaway, but in a recent robbery, a lift truck did the job.
A thief recently used a lift truck to break through the locked closed doors of a Sam’s Club in a dramatic escape following a robbery.
According to a story on local radio station KHTS, the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station reported that a single suspect, described as a white male, 6-foot-4 in height and weighing 200 pounds entered the store late in the afternoon and hid until closing.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., the suspect came out of hiding, according to the report, and brandished a semi-automatic handgun at an employee, then forced him into the safe room for the store’s cash.
The suspect emptied the safe, putting an undisclosed amount of money into a bag and tried to run through the exit doors, which were locked. He then ran to a nearby lift truck and drove the vehicle through the glass doors.
Despite deputies searching the area, the suspect still remains at large.
