Intermec Technologies Corp. (Everett, Wash.), which designs and manufactures RFID (radio frequency identification) and mobile computing systems, has been awarded a “blanket purchasing agreement” to provide passive RFID (radio frequency identification) technical engineering services to support the Department of Defense and the U.S. Coast Guard. This award is the third RFID award resulting from a government request for quotation issued in December 2004. Earlier this year Intermec was granted purchasing agreements to provide RFID tags and readers.
The awards are part of the government's Automatic Information Technology RFID initiative to provide timely asset visibility in its global logistics pipeline, whether in process, in storage or in transit.
