Michaels Stores to Build 715,000 sq.-ft. DC in Centralia, Wash.

Michaels Stores Inc. (Irving, Texas) announced plans to build a 715,000 sq.-ft. distribution center in an industrial park in Centralia, Wash. Tarragon Development (Seattle, Wash.) will manage the development project. When complete next year, the facility will employ 125 full-time employees, along with additional seasonal and part-time workers.

Michaels owns and operates 889 Michaels arts and crafts stores in 48 states and Canada. It has distribution centers in California, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Florida. The stores carry 40,000 items and average 18,200 square feet of selling space and $3.9 million in annual sales.
