Element ID UHF Readers

Dec. 8, 2009
Each device in the UA1000 line of ultra-high-frequency (UHF) RFID readers from Element ID includes an RFID reader, automation system controller and embedded Linux PC in a single box.

The devices are UHF EPC Gen 2 compliant and feature configurable read ranges from six inches to more than 50 feet. TagLink, HyperSage, AnyHost and VARport software are embedded in the reader, so external software is not required to set up or use the reader.

Element ID says the UA1000 readers are suitable for access control, asset tracking, pallet tracking, case- or item-level tracking, managing dock doors and conveyor systems and manufacturing/work-in-process applications. Specific models in the line include UA1000i (pictured), UA1200 and UA1400.

The RFID readers also can be directly connected to photoeyes, switches, buttons, pulse position indicators and parallel I/O. They offer a real-time interface to barcode scanners, diverters, PLCs, scales and dimensioners, something that is generally not possible with other RFID readers, according to Element ID.
