Cat Lift Trucks (Houston) recently unveiled its new Customer Focus Area within its manufacturing facility. Here, staff randomly select Cat Lift Trucks as they roll off the assembly line for additional quality inspection, which can take between four to five hours to complete for each truck.

"With more than 100 items to check, our inspections audits are rigorous and focus on four main areas: work order accuracy; performance and assembly; critical torque; and overall appearance," said John Kristoff, manager of corporate quality. "These audits are in addition to our normal inspection process and I think the dealers were impressed with the time we take out of the production day to make sure everything is right.

"Cat Lift Trucks' inspection results are tabulated and reviewed with the functional groups and the company's executive committee on a weekly basis. We are constantly measuring, evaluating and testing our systems to review ways to continually improve quality," Kristoff added.

Cat Lift Trucks offers lift trucks with capacities ranging from 2,200 to 33,000 lbs. It has more than 300 dealer locations throughout North and South America.
