NAPLES, Fla.—The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its January 2008 booked orders index was down 2 points, for a decrease of 2%, from December 2007’s index. The January 2008 index represents a decrease of 11% from the January 2007 index of 147.

January booked orders indexes were 206 for bulk handling equipment and 104 for unit handling equipment. The 12-month index for booked orders was 154 in January. The index in January represents a decrease of 1% from December 2007’s 12-Month Index of 155.

The CEMA billed sales (shipments) index for January was 130, which is down 9% from December 2007’s index. The January 2008 index represents a decrease of 12% from the January 2007 index.

January billed sales indexes were 175 for bulk handling equipment and 120 for unit handling equipment. In January, the 12-month index for billed sales was 147, which represents a decrease of 1% from December 2007’s 12-month index of 149.
