CEMA Reports on Latest Bookings and Billings

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported its January 2003 Booked Orders Index was 108, which is down 40 points for a decrease of 27%

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported its January 2003 Booked Orders Index was 108, which is down 40 points for a decrease of 27% from December 2002’s Index of 148. The January 2003 Index represents a decrease of 44% from the January 2002 Index of 193.

January Booked Orders Indexes were 82 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 99 for Unit Handling Equipment. (Bulk handling systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months. The booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.)

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 125 in January. The Index represents a decrease of 5% from December 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 132.

The CEMA Billed sales (shipments) Index was 161 in January, down 13 points for a decrease of 7% from the December Index of 174. The January 2003 Index represents a decrease of 18% from the January 2002 Index of 196.

January Billed Sales Indexes were 80 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 147 for Unit Handling Equipment.

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 172 in January. Index represents a decrease of 2% from December 2002’s Twelve-Month Index of 175.
