The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Secaucus, N.J.) will have Dematic Corp. (Grand Rapids), install an automated material handling system at its new 700,000 sq.-ft. distribution center in Fort Payne, Ala. The facility is slated to go live in the second half of 2007. The DC includes almost 10 miles of Dematic conveyer, four high rate shoe sorters as well as a 2,600 location pick to light system for order fulfillment.
The Fort Payne distribution center will be the fourth facility where Dematic and The Children’s Place have worked together to concept and implement an automated solution to meet their distribution requirements. Their other distribution centers are located in Ontario, California; Dayton, New Jersey; and Ontario, Canada.
