Columbus McKinnon Corporation (Amherst, N.Y.) announces the planned retirement of Herbert P. Ladds, Jr. as chairman following the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting on August 15. The company’s board of directors intends to elect Ernest R. Verebelyi, currently a director, as chairman of the board.

Verebelyi has been a director with Columbus McKinnon since January 2003. A retired group president of Terex Corporation, Verebelyi has also held executive, general management and operating positions at General Signal Corporation, Emerson, Hussmann Corporation and General Electric.

“Ernie’s knowledge of our business gained in his service as a director and his diverse management experience at large multinational manufacturers make him an ideal fit to become chairman of Columbus McKinnon as we continue to refine our manufacturing operations and expand in global markets,” said Columbus McKinnon president and CEO Timothy T. Tevens.
