Datalogic S.p.A. (“Datalogic”), providers of bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, RFID and vision systems, announced it will acquire, through a U.S. subsidiary, PPT Vision, Inc., a U.S.-based machine vision company. The value of the transaction amounts to $5.2 million, financed through existing internal resources.

This acquisition follows on the heels of Datalogic’s announced acquisition of Accu-Sort Systems.

“The acquisition of PPT Vision provides us with cutting edge technologies,” said Mauro Sacchetto, Datalogic Group CEO. “This includes a wide range of smart cameras and vision systems which, thanks to original software libraries with sophisticated algorithms and drag&drop configuration tools, allow for the development of highly complex vision applications in a flexible, modular and intuitive way.”

In 2010 the global vision market was estimated to have a value of approximately $3.7 billion, with a growth of 11% compared to the previous year.

The acquisition will close later this month, upon PPT shareholder approval.
