COLUMBUS, Ohio—Exel has earned an Environmental Excellence Award from the U.S. EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership for its efforts to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Exel was one of 34 organizations to receive the award at the annual conference of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in Philadelphia, Pa.

As a SmartWay Partner, Exel uses SmartWay carriers in its managed transportation operations and promotes the program to other carriers.

“Improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions does more than help our environment,” said Mike Clark, Exel’s vice president of transportation. “It lowers overall fuel expenses, which supports more cost-effective service for our customers. It’s a responsible practice that benefits everyone.”
