Glacier Showcases its Kodiak Series of Portable Mobile Handheld Computers at NA 2006

Glacier Computer, a leading designer, developer, and supplier of rugged industrial PC-compatible devices, will showcase its GL 800 mobile handheld computer at NA 2006 at the International Exposition Center, March 27th to 30th, in Cleveland in booth # 1441. The GL 800 is designed for inventory management in warehouses, distribution centers, retail in-store environments, and other industrial applications that require maximum performance and durability.

The GL 800 combines the flexibility of Windows CE.Net with the power of the Intel XScale processor, Cisco wireless technology, a large color display, and laser (1D) and imaging (1D and 2D) scanning in an ergonomically rugged PDT. Easily handling demanding data collection tasks in industrial environments, the GL 800 can withstand 5 ft. (1.5m) drops to concrete, has an IP54 environmental rating, and an 86dBA / 100dBA beeper.

“The GL 800 is the most lightweight, ergonomic unit in its class,” says John Geary, vice president of Glacier. “With the expanded feature set of the GL 800, customers can be assured that they have the latest technology encased in the most durable, lightweight form factor.”

Equipped with accessory options such as docks, forklift mounting options, spare batteries and holsters, the GL 800 is ideal for scan intensive retail, warehouse and distribution applications for inventory management, cross-docking, receiving put-a-way, picking and shipping.

The GL 800 is available with either a 26-key alphanumeric keypad for preliminary numeric keypad data entry and a 48-key or 52-key full alpha keypad for numeric and text data entry. The 52-key option is also available as a 5250 Terminal Emulation keypad with specific keys.

“The GL 800 is an excellent addition to our new Kodiak Series and will compliment our existing line of rugged full screen forklift computers,” says Geary. “Customers can install our fixed-mount GX units on the forklifts while equipping their mobile workers with our handheld GL 800 Series.”
