Baldor Electric Company, Fort Smith, introduces the Dodge Steel-Housed IMPERIAL HD mounted roller bearing that combines proven IMPERIAL bearing technology with a cast steel housing, designed specifically for heavy-duty applications. Steel housings are available in pillow block, flange, edger flange and piloted flange configurations.

Baldor’s patented Dodge IMPERIAL adapter mount system makes this bearing easy-to-mount and dismount, dramatically reducing installation and removal time. With the IMPERIAL insert, the adapter nut is turned clockwise to tighten the adapter on the shaft. There is no need to use feeler gauges to set the clearance of the bearing. An easy-to-attach lock plate holds the adapter nut in place. During operation, the adapter sleeve improves concentricity and reduces vibration.

The IMPERIAL insert features a built-in bearing puller, making it easy to remove from the shaft. All that is required is removing the lock plate, turning the nut counter-clockwise, and the bearing will slide off the shaft.

In addition to the wide choice of steel housing configurations, the high capacity, double-row spherical bearing elements are protected by an exclusive sealing system for maximum shielding. The bearing’s patented nitrile multiple-lip seal resists heat and chemical breakdown. For greater protection, the seal also provides a flinger, shielding the seal and bearing from contamination and damage. An optional metallic labyrinth seal, when coupled with the standard steel cage, provides high temperature and high speed capabilities. Optional end caps offer additional protection from contaminants.
