Stating that industry leaders are predicting a shortage of qualified supply chain management professionals in the coming years, Maciek Nowak, PhD, ([email protected]) announced that beginning with the fall 2012 semester, Loyola University Chicago’s Graduate School of Business will offer a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM). Nowak is the program’s director.

The MSSCM at Loyola marks the first supply chain management degree at an Illinois university accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Loyola’s program is aimed at “equipping students with the real-world experience needed to advance in supply chain management.” That means learning how to synchronize various supply chain partners, using cutting-edge technology to monitor the movement of goods, negotiating complex purchasing contracts, and coordinating transportation across multiple modes.

Loyola students in this program will also consider the ethics involved in supply chain management. These lessons will come together with a capstone course providing an overarching analysis of the industry as well as its greater role in society.
