HOLTSVILLE, N.Y.– Symbol Technologies, Inc. The Enterprise Mobility Company™, today expanded the breadth of the MC3000 family of mobile computers by introducing a new pistol grip form factor. Named the MC3090G mobile computer, this new configuration offers customers in the retail, transportation and logistics and government industries increased flexibility and versatility allowing them to choose the form factor most appropriate to their business. Symbol also announced today that it will refresh its MC3000 line of mobile computers to include Microsoft® Windows® CE 5.0 and additional features such as 802.11b/g/a WLAN connectivity.

Designed to increase efficiencies in scan-intensive operations, the MC3090G incorporates the latest Intel® XScale™ processor and is a compact, lightweight, highly ergonomic, rugged mobile computer, designed for businesses seeking to increase productivity and flexibility from in-store to backroom data capture applications. End-users include retail workers who perform tasks such as inventory replenishment, price audits, warehouse shipping/receiving and other scan-intensive applications and workers who require a secure, rugged device in the transportation and logistics, postal and other industries

The new MC3090 series of mobile computers is based on the intuitive Microsoft® Windows® CE 5.0 computing platform, providing the latest operating system for real-time processing, faster performance and Web browsing capabilities. Select configurations also offer the popular rotating scan head with left, right and front positions to allow the user to adjust the scanning position for increased comfort and productivity. Along with four-foot drop specifications across a range of temperatures, the MC3090 series of rugged mobile computers has an IP54-rated sealing for protection against water and dust and provides reliable performance in tough environmental conditions.

This feature will help customers better address the growing challenges associated with rolling out, managing and maintaining enterprise mobility systems. With the MSP, enterprise operations personnel can rapidly deploy new devices, like the MC3090, provision software upgrades and fixes with a single command, as well as perform remote user support and diagnostics.
