NEW PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: SENSORS

IN FULL COLOR

The VCS 110 color sensor distinguishes between shades that appear identical to the naked eye. Programmed through pushbuttons, it can store up to 10 shades. Sensing range is to 80 mm with a 2-milli-second response time. Pepperl+Fuchs Inc.

SENSORS GUIDE DIFFICULT MATERIAL

The SE-38 First*Edge is a threshold-based edge scan sensor that eliminates the effect of opacity variations in non-woven material. It detects the first edge of a web and then ignores subsequent material voids and porosity. The sensor has a 180-degree foldback prism to transmit light back and forth through sensor optics and the guided material. It works on material that infrared, air and ultrasonic sensors have problems with. Maxcess International

ADJUSTABLE-FIELD SENSORS

The Q60 Adjustable-Field sensor features a mechanically adjustable sensing cutoff point. They detect objects with relatively low reflectivity while ignoring background objects. Users can set or change the sensing cutoff point from 200 mm to 2,000 mm. Operation involves lining up three optical elements across the sensor face. Banner Engineering Corp.

SENSOR COMMUNICATES

The Superprox SM906 sensor series now features DeviceNet communications capability, which decreases downtime and installation costs. The 30-mm ultrasonic sensor is small and has short deadbands. It is unaffected by changing light conditions or colors, dirt and dust, cleaning solutions, frequent high-pressure washdowns and non-condensing humidity. Hyde Park Electronics Inc.

VIEW CONTENTS

Model HSLS-12 is a high-intensity Smarteye photoelectric light source/receiver sensor. With 12 times the optical power of other sensors, it can sense contents of cardboard or plastic containers. Applications include verification of container contents, checking fill levels or detecting overlap of dense material. Tri-Tronics Co. Inc.

EASY INSTALLATION

Family of mounting brackets reduces the time it takes to install and align photoelectric sensors. A special clamp lets sensors be raised or lowered and rotated vertically and horizontally. Once positioned correctly, the sensor is locked by tightening a single screw. ifm efector inc.

SENSING SOLUTIONS

Brochure covers the range of sensing devices and applications for the company’s product line. Specifications are also included, along with product photos. Sick Inc.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

The E68 Series Integral Sensor Valve integrates the sensors, valve and control into one device. For zero-pressure accumulation applications, it provides reliable conveyor control. Low-profile packaging eases side-channel installation. Sensing range is to 10 feet. Cutler-Hammer, Eaton Corp.
