The updated and revised Standard for the Use of the International System of Units (SI): The Modern Metric System (IEEE/ASTM SI-10-2002) is available from ASTM. The standard helps you understand and apply SI in the internationally accepted manner.

Standard for the Use of the International System of Units (SI): The Modern Metric System supersedes other publications on the topic, including IEEE/ASTM SI-10-1997, ASTM E380 and ANSI/IEEE 268-1992.

This work provides material that clearly defines and comments on SI quantities and units used to describe such properties as mass, force, weight, temperature, pressure, angle, moment of inertia, and kinetic energy. It gives descriptions of the two classes of units – base and derived – that make up SI, providing clear guidance on writing SI symbols correctly. Also included are rules for conversion and rounding, and numerous easy-to-understand tables.
