Nissan Forklift (Marengo, Ill.) has received Foreign Trade Zone status. The new Foreign Trade Zone, a subzone of the Foreign Trade Zone at the Chicago-Rockford International Airport, will allow Nissan Forklift to streamline the customs process and reduce or eliminate duties or tariffs on parts that it imports, in addition to completed machines that it exports.

“This new Foreign Trade Zone subzone will help Nissan Forklift and its suppliers better compete in the global marketplace and help increase the market share of the company’s forklifts sold in the U.S. and abroad,” said U.S. Representative Don Manzullo, R-Ill., Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, at a ceremony in the company’s Marengo factory. “It will help Nissan Forklift and the local suppliers grow their businesses and create more jobs for needy workers in northern Illinois.”

Company President Tak Tokugawa added, “With the new designation, Nissan Forklift aims to increase exports to European and South American countries.”

Nissan Forklift is a full line supplier of engine powered forklifts, electric sit-down riders, electric pallet trucks, electric tow tractors, electric walkie stackers, and manual pallet trucks in the Nissan and Barrett Industrial Truck brands.
