October Conveyor Orders up Over 100% from 2010

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its October 2011 Booked Orders Index was 235, up 17 points or 8% from September 2011’s Index of 218. The October index represents an increase of 103% from the October 2010 Index of 116.

The October Booked Orders Indexes were 279 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 227 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 176 in October, representing an increase of 6% from September 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 166.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 179 in October, which is a decrease of 3% from September 2011’s Index of 184. The October 2011 Index represents an increase of 26% over the October 2010 Index of 142.

October Billed Sales Indexes were 294 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 155 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 162 in October, an increase of 2% over September 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 159.
