FREMONT, CA – Scientific Technologies, Inc. introduces the PA4600-BB Entry/Exit Access Guarding Device. The PA4600-BB is a simple “one-box” design with an operating range up to 8 meters and response time as low as 16ms that provides a low-cost solution for guarding the access to entry/exit openings to hazardous applications.

Depending on specific application requirements, the PA4600-BB provides two beams spaced either 500mm (19.6”) or 600mm (23.6”) apart to provide torso detection. The system has an input voltage of 24Vdc, and provides two solid state PNP safety control output signals providing 625ma each for compatibility with a wide range of interfacing options with industry-standard safety relays. This signal can be used as the primary switching device or is capable of driving larger switching devices.

The PA4600-BB consists of an “Active” unit that contains the electronic assemblies, and a “Passive” unit that contains mirror assemblies. This design simplifies electrical connections for easy, low-cost installation. Alignment is made easy by the design of the mirror assembly in the passive unit and precision optics in the active unit. Front panel access to the selector switches allows users to easily modify configurations as needed. Separate scan codes eliminate cross talk with adjacent PA4600-BB systems. LED status indicators and numeric displays offer streamlined diagnostic capabilities. MPCE monitoring assures that the control reliability of the PA4600-BB is integrated into the control panel of the hazardous machine.

The PA4600-BB is a type 4 ESPE (electro-sensitive protection equipment) device per UL61496, and is designed to meet the requirements of the Robot Industries Association (RIA) and American National Standard (ANSI) R15.06 specification for guarding robot work cells.
