Preferred Freezer Services is currently building a 200,000 sq. ft. (8.0 million cu. ft.) cold storage space in Newark, N.J. The facility includes 143,000 sq. ft. of freezer space, a 21,600 sq.-ft. four-story office building for the company’s new corporate headquarters, and 37,000 sq. ft. of dock and mechanical space. Scheduled to open in October, the facility is the company’s 13th location. A live web camera (preferredfreezer.com) gives the company and construction contractors an easy way to check on the facility’s progress.
Founded in 1989, the refrigerated warehouse company currently operates 12 co-owned facilities in five states, including California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey. Preferred employs 400 people and is approaching $100 million in sales.
