Price Chopper, a major grocery chain in the northeast U.S., has once again selected HHP with the purchase of Dolphin 9550 Mobile Computers. These computers will be deployed at Price Chopper’s 106 stores to run automated ordering applications developed by Industri-Matematik International (IMI), and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) applications. Upon completion of the rollout, Price Chopper will have a single technical platform to support current and future applications.

The agreement between Price Chopper and HHP follows last year’s successful integration and company-wide implementation of HHP Dolphin 7450 mobile computers and IMI retail applications Price Chopper’s goal is to update its shrink capture mobile computers and expand in-store applications.

“The Dolphin 9550 provides us with a highly scalable and robust mobile computing platform for our in-store operations” remarks Tom Nowak, senior vice president of information systems and CIO at Price Chopper. HHP’s and IMI’s combined capabilities have helped the retailer focus on actual consumer demand to source orders and ensure its stores have the right products on the shelf to meet customer needs.

IMI provides store replenishment solutions, utilizing consumer demand forecasts to drive automated ordering processes. IMI has worked with Price Chopper to rollout the IMI Store product, which provides Price Chopper full store-level inventory management providing increased product availability and a reduction in inventory shrink. IMI and HHP have worked collaboratively on the Price Chopper project to provide Price Chopper stores with a new platform that is compatible with past products, and that requires no additional in-store training.

Powered by HHP’s fourth generation, Adaptus Imaging Technology, the Dolphin 9500 and 9550 mobile computers are solutions designed for all mobile in-premise and in-transit data collection applications where durability, ergonomics, premier system architecture, wireless communications and low cost of ownership are a must.
