Radio Beacon Inc., a developer of warehouse management software for manufacturers, distributors and third-party logistic (3PL) providers, has released two radio frequency identification (RFID) 'Pilot Kits' for companies using Microsoft Great Plains and Solomon. The Wal-Mart RFID Compliance Pilot Kits let these companies begin RFID labeling cartons and pallets to meet the needs of their major retailer customers. The OnPortal Pilot Kit extends the solution for shipping through "scan tunnels."

These products provide a quick way to get started with RFID, and to prepare for complying with the RFID requirements of shipping to Wal-Mart.

"The demand for RFID solutions is growing among retailers, but adopting this solution can pose a cost and workflow challenge for smaller businesses. Using our trial packs, companies can easily deploy and manage a rich RFID tool set at a highly competitive price point," said Dale Jeffries, president of Radio Beacon. "Our customers, regardless of the size of their organization, will be able to quickly ensure readiness for the RFID labeling demands of their clients, putting their business in an optimal position for growth."

"Unlike other RFID solutions on the market today, Wal-Mart RFID Compliance Pilot Kit provides a full, seamless integration with Microsoft Business Solutions back-office systems." says L. Allen Bennett, president of System Concepts Inc. "By partnering with Radio Beacon and MBS; we are furthering our commitment to deliver cutting-edge technology solutions to meet the needs of our respective customer bases."

The OnPortal Trial Pack enables customers to utilize an RFID portal placed at the truck-loading door to automatically verify each shipment as it is being loaded. The further enhances the high order accuracy levels delivered by Radio Beacon WMS, giving customers the ability to guarantee accurate order fulfillment.

Wal-Mart RFID Compliance Pilot Kit includes an RFID printer, SCI PackBot software, MBS interface and 500 EPC smart labels. The OnPortal Trial Pack includes an RFID scan tunnel, RFID antennas, stack-light, photo-eye, SCI PortalBot software, SCI OnTrax RFID computer, and integration module.
