RFID, Ltd. Is acquireing and Packaged RFID, Inc., a leading integrator of RFID technology for the retail and defense sectors, through merger to form a RFID integration company for small to medium-sized Wal-Mart, Target and Department of Defense (DoD) suppliers.

"This acquisition will serve as a potent mechanism to transform the landscape of the RFID services industry. The merging of RFID, Ltd. and Packaged RFID will create the broadest portfolio and the most experienced leadership team in the RFID integration industry who are focused fully on delivering value to customers, partners and shareholders," said Betty Chavez, Packaged RFID, Inc. chairwoman and chief executive officer.

Packaged RFID, Inc. consists of two businesses; Packaged RFID specializes in RFID compliance case studies, implementation and RFID scalability solutions for small to medium-sized suppliers who are required to comply with retail or government mandates centered around RFID. The second business unit RFIDBrains is responsible for scouting and recruiting the world's leading RFID talent on a retained search basis. Following the merger, Packaged RFID, Inc. will become a wholly owned subsidiary of RFID, LTD.

In other news, Packaged RFID is partnering with Independent Professional Management (IPM) establishing IPM as an integral part of Packaged RFID's integration initiatives for small to medium-sized Wal-Mart suppliers. Packaged RFID also has existing relationships with IBM, HP and Microsoft to assist in deploying RFID in an expedient and comprehensive manner for retail suppliers. In 2005, Wal-Mart reported doing business with over 68,000 suppliers worldwide, all of which are required to comply with RFID requirements set forth by the retail giant.

"For over a decade, IPM has specialized in securing and retaining consultants with rare skill-sets in technologies such as SAP, Oracle, Sarbanes-Oxley and Glovia. We expect that they will easily meet our growth requirements in staffing our RFID consulting and integration engagements," said David Schnell, VP Alliances, Packaged RFID Inc. Both companies agree that RFID implementation will help small and medium-sized suppliers currently focused on one retailer expand to additional retail fronts as RFID technology proliferates in the retail sector. "We are proud to be a part of this effort." added McIlnay.
