LAKELAND, Fla.—Third-party logistics (3PL) services provider Saddle Creek Corporation has opened a new 269,000-square-foot distribution center for beverage manufacturer Hornell Brewing Company Inc. in Santa Fe Springs, Calif.

The relationship between Saddle Creek and Hornell goes back to 2007, and Saddle Creek recently built a 486,000-square-foot-facility at its Lakeland, Fla., headquarters campus to host operations for Hornell and another shipper that was not named in a Saddle Creek statement.

Saddle Creek officials added that it selected a facility that was conveniently located near the Hornell Brewing production facility and a major highway network to ensure cost-effective transportation options.

“Having experienced associates who are familiar with this account on the ground in California has been invaluable for ensuring a smooth start-up and transition,” said Tom Patterson, senior vice president at Saddle Creek.

Saddle Creek will also provide Hornell with the flexibility in staffing and space that they need to meet seasonal peaks and future growth in the beverage market. That staffing of the facility will include management and operational personnel and will vary based on the activity level associated with facility operations.

The new facility brings the total number of Saddle Creek locations to 24 nationwide.
