When the Community Foodbank of New Jersey needed a supply chain consultant to help them re-engineer their 280,000-square-foot warehouse near Newark Airport, they called upon OPSdesign Consulting (Marlton, N.J.).

Last year over 22,000 volunteers assisted the Foodbank in its mission to fight hunger and poverty.

Now, the material handling industry has an opportunity to help this non-profit organization. It needs to move and deliver more than 23 million pounds of food and groceries annually to homeless shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, programs for the disabled and senior citizen programs and daycare centers in low-income neighborhoods.

Here’s how you can help. The new distribution center design will require lift trucks, pallet rack, shelving, carts and a variety of other material handling and storage equipment. Should your organization be interested in donating used equipment or making a monetary donation, please contact Cathy McCann, vice president, operations, (908) 355-3663 ext. 226, or, [email protected].

If you have any questions about whether or not your used equipment will be suitable for the Foodbank’s mission or wish to learn more, please contact Lawrence Shemesh, (856) 797-1933 Extension 101, or e-mail, [email protected].
