COLUMBUS, Ohio—Worthington Industries’ subsidiary, Worthington Steelpac Systems LLC, has acquired a 49% interest in Lefco Industries LLC, a minority business enterprise (MBE).

The new joint venture, Lefco Worthington LLC, will manufacture steel rack systems for a variety of industries, including automotive and trucking. The company will continue to produce engineered wooden crates and specialty products in the Lefco manufacturing facility in Cleveland.

For the past two years, Worthington Steelpac and Lefco had been assessing opportunities to gain an MBE in the steel rack fabrication market.

“Lefco will give Steelpac the potential to participate more broadly in the rack business by giving customers the option to purchase from an MBE-certified rack supplier,” says Don Pulver, vice president of Worthington Steelpac.
