A small sample of for-hire, private and government fleet managers by CK Commercial Vehicle Research (CKCVR) indicates many of the fleet equipment buyers were delaying purchases to the second quarter and 32% said the number of power units they plan to purchase will be “less than a typical buy.”

Fewer fleets planned to buy trailers in 2008 and, of those, 68% said purchases would be “typical” for their fleets.

Only 14% responded that power units purchased would be “more than typical” and 11% provided a similar response for trailers.
