Lauth has begun construction of a modern cross-dock distribution building located minutes from Port of Charleston.
The first of two new bulk distribution buildings at North Pointe Industrial Park, the facility is located four miles from the Port of Charleston and five miles to I-26 and I-526.
"Lauth engineered these buildings at North Pointe to meet the needs of the largest global distribution and logistics firms," said Houston Roberts, vice president of Office and Industrial Development in Lauth's Charlotte office. "There is nothing this large and this modern this close to the Port of Charleston and the interstates."
North Pointe Building Four is a 390,180-square-foot cross-dock building featuring 32' clear height, up to 100 dock doors, parking for 72 trailers and over 200 cars. It will be available for occupancy early in 2009.
North Pointe Building Five will be a 399,732 square-foot cross-dock distribution building featuring 32' clear height, 100+ dock doors, and parking for more than 80 trailers and 200 cars. Construction on Building Five will begin following the completion of Building Four, or as needed on a build-to-suit basis.
"The Port of Charleston is the largest economic development driver in South Carolina. The Port, complemented by our state's business-friendly climate and quality infrastructure, makes South Carolina fertile ground for global logistics and distribution operations,” said Joe Taylor, South Carolina Secretary of Commerce. “North Pointe Industrial Park will bring with it opportunities to attract business, investment and jobs to South Carolina and we look forward to working with our economic development partners to attract great companies to fill these facilities."
