The Anchorage Economic Development Corp. (AEDC), a private, non-profit entity signed the MOU with the Beijing Liqiao Bonded Logistics Development Corp. The Chinese domestic market will gain from receiving fresh and frozen Alaska salmon and other seafood as well as improved logistics services. Business will be increased at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and the Port of Anchorage.
Product will move to the Li Qiao Free Trade Zone, located 2.5 miles from the Beijing Capital Airport. It is the first privately owned free trade zone in the People’s Republic of China. Beijing Liqiao Bonded Logistics is the owner.
The trading partners have three objectives: Creation of domestic markets for the Alaskan seafood; developing a specialized, regularly scheduled air cargo transportation between the two airports; and developing Anchorage as a transpacific cargo distribution and reverse logistics center.
