A second large ship, the Canmar Spirit, is expected to enter Canada Maritime’s intermodal containership service in September. These two ships are the largest ever to ply the St. Lawrence River and will be operated as part of the company’s Northern Service.

Being built by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Heavy Machinery, a third ship has been ordered by OOCL, Canada Maritime’s partner in its St Lawrence Coordinated Service (SLCS). The partners market their services separately.

With Montreal as the gateway, three weekly routes are offered by SLCS: Montreal-Thamesport-Antwerp-Le Havre; Montreal-Antwerp-Hamburg; and Montreal-Liverpool.
