To now, Con-Way has had sales offices in Monterrey, Guadalajara, Querétaro and Mexico City. The logistics centers offer warehousing, cross-dock operations and transportation management. Each of the centers will have sales offices, as well. They are located in Nuevo Laredo, San Luis Potosi, Querétaro, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.

The centers will be linked to the Con-Way Transportation Services system, in order to provide operational control and tracking of shipment movement and storage information.

In Mexico, Con-Way uses a core network of motor carriers for linehaul, having developed the group since it established a presence in Mexico in 1992. “Over the past several years we have worked very closely with a select number of excellent Mexican motor carriers,” notes Jose Antonio Gonzalez, Con-Way Mexico’s managing director, “and are very confident in their service capabilities.”

As part of its contracts with the Mexican carriers, Con-Way Mexico has issued a set of simplified rates scales and transit time standards, all of which are available via the web. Bilingual Mexican nationals who are Con-Way employees staff the logistics centers.

Con-Way’s president, David S. McClimon, says that, “Building this network is the next logical step in providing Con-Way service throughout all the NAFTA markets. We want to provide the same service in Mexico that we currently provide in the U.S. and Canada.”

The company has set up a dedicated email address for Mexico shipping information. To get answers to questions, call 800-872-4482 in the U.S., 01-800-926-6929 (01-800-9Con-Way) in Mexico, or email at [email protected]
