Cat Lift Trucks’ DP70N 15,500 lb. capacity diesel pneumatic tire lift truck is said to provide an 18 percent increase in fuel efficiency and productivity over previous generations, in addition to meeting stringent Tier 4 interim regulation standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It features the high-performance Perkins 854E engine, delivering the power for rugged applications, such as lumber, pipe and steel. The manufacturer promises an 18 percent increase in fuel efficiency over the previous generation. The truck’s diesel particulate filter (DPF) is designed to passively burn off soot in the system as needed during normal operation, meaning easier maintenance. The DP70N notifies operators when there is something wrong with the forklift, including critical engine oil pressure and coolant and transmission temperatures. The system automatically lowers maximum RPMs and slows travel and hydraulic speeds when the truck is not performing at acceptable levels, effectively reducing the potential for damage or repairs.
