Columbus, Ohio and Raleigh, N.C. - August 25, 2003 - Sterling Commerce, a worldwide leader in business integration solutions, and HAHT Commerce, a leading demand chain management applications vendor, today announced a partnership that will enable consumer packaged goods and hardlines manufacturers, and their retailer customers, to reduce costs and increase profits by facilitating the exchange of complete, accurate and current product data.

As part of the agreement, Sterling Commerce will resell HAHT Commerce's Quick Connect for UCCnet product with its Gentran Integration Suite to create a solution capable of aggregating and structuring product content for publication to the UCCnet GLOBALregistry* service or other exchanges and trading partners.

The joint offering allows companies to synchronize product data across the supply chain and address other business integration projects according to their own timetables and priorities through Gentran Integration Suite's modular integration platform.

"Sterling Commerce is one of the only vendors that addresses industry initiatives with solutions that are deployed in phases so our customers can see an immediate return on their investment," said Sam Starr, president and CEO of Sterling Commerce. "Gentran Integration Suite, along with the HAHT's Quick Connect, can be implemented quickly to meet immediate requirements such as UCCnet, yet is robust enough to provide a foundation for future integration and product information management initiatives."

Gentran Integration Suite extracts information from multiple sources to be compiled, validated and staged within the HAHT Commerce Quick Connect catalog, transforms information into the UCCnet XML or other required standards, and distributes the content securely. Gentran Integration Suite offers an easy-to-use interface with intuitive workflow capabilities that enable collaboration across departments or companies.

"Data synchronization is a foundational requirement for all future Business-to-Business (B2B) initiatives, and for those with active projects, the benefits have been clear," said Kara Romanow, in the AMR Research Report, April 2003. "Data synchronization should be viewed as a competitive advantage. It makes it easier for your customers to do business with you, so it should be leveraged sooner rather than later."

"UCCnet global registry services have been embraced by more than 900 partners including Wal-Mart, Home Depot, CVS and Albertsons. Its benefits include more accurate information, increased efficiencies throughout the supply chain, and, most importantly, reduced costs," said Tom Thomas, chairman and CEO, HAHT Commerce. "This new partnership positions Sterling Commerce as a one-stop solution provider for multi-system integration and UCCnet compliance."

Both Sterling Commerce and HAHT Commerce are experienced UCC Solution Partners.
