Though company officials were unavailable for comment, industry sources confirm Billings Transportation Group had “closed its doors.” The regional less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier operated terminals in the Northeast and South Central region of the U.S., but had also established operations in Canada and links to Mexico. An official with Old Dominion Freight Lines (ODFL) confirmed that Billings was referring its customers to Old Dominion, though he said ODFL had not acquired any customer lists or made any overtures to purchase any part of the Billings operations.

In its 80-plus years, Billings developed a substantial business serving the textiles industry. Recent expansion led it to develop stronger links to Canada. The company also had truckload operations and a logistics group that handled global container moves for customers.
