A new door-to-door business unit, Carload Solutions, from MHF Supply Chain Solutions puts rail, transloading and trucking into an integrated service product covered by a single invoice. Pricing is available by carload, truckload or weight.

Among the services offered are transportation of freight to and from non-rail served locations; product consolidation and loading of rail cars; availability of a transloading network; facility coordination and management of inventory; management of shipments; and end-to-end supply chain integration.

MHF Supply Chain Solutions is a division of MHF Logistical Solutions, that describes itself as a rail-centric, asset-based, third party logistics provider. Its network is operated by business partners in more than 100 facilities throughout North America.

The supplier points to savings on transportation costs by using rail as part of the mix in moving freight. It suggests that rail works best in those lanes that have consistent and heavy volume, over longer rather than shorter distances and for heavier rather than lighter products.
