Handy Hardware Outsources Transportation to Averitt Express

Retail co-op cites liability and CSA compliance as reasons to outsource its transportation

Handy Hardware, a Houston-based cooperative of independent hardware supply retailers, has selected Averitt Express to provide dedicated contract carriage services.

Averitt will provide Handy Hardware with dedicated local and over-the-road transportation of hardware products to retail stores located throughout a five-state region from one of Handy Hardware’s distribution centers located in Houston.

“Like many shippers today, Handy Hardware was looking for a way to improve the efficiency and lower the overall cost of our supply chain,” says Tina Kirbie, president of Handy Hardware. “In addition, with the increased liability and scrutiny of the transportation industry brought on by CSA, it made sense to consider outsourcing this segment of our business. By allowing Averitt the opportunity to manage our transportation needs, Handy Hardware will be able to focus more on what we do best.”
