LA Gets New Port Director

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced the appointment of Dr. Geraldine Knatz as executive director of the Port of Los Angeles. She was managing director for California’s Port of Long Beach where she had responsibility for the ports engineering, planning and properties. She fills a position left vacant by the resignation of Larry Keller in September 2004.

Dr. Knatz is chair of the Association of American Ports’ Harbors, Navigation and Environment Committee and is a member of that group’s Curriculum Committee. She holds a PhD in biological sciences from the University of Southern California where she teaches in the civil engineering department.
