May Booked Orders for Conveyors Down, Shipments Up

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its May 2011 Booked Orders Index was 173, down 46 points or 21% from April 2011’s Index of 219, but an increase of 32% over the May 2010 Index of 131

The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its May 2011 Booked Orders Index was 173, down 46 points or 21% from April 2011’s Index of 219, but an increase of 32% over the May 2010 Index of 131.

The May Booked Orders Indexes were 266 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 142 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 157 in May, an increase of 2% from April 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 154.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 171 in May, which is a 10% increase from April 2011’s Index of 155. The April 2011 Index represents an increase of 46% over the May 2010 Index of 117.

May Billed Sales Indexes were 270 for Bulk Handling Equipment and 153 for Unit Handling Equipment. The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 146 in May, an increase of 3% over April 2011’s Twelve-Month Index of 142.
