At a board of directors meeting following the completion of the League's annual conference, Ficker offered his resignation, according to Warfel, NITL chairman and manager of customer service and logistics for Eka Chemicals Inc./an Akzo Nobel Company.

Ficker succeeded Ed Emmett in 2003 when Emmett resigned. Ficker was an active member of the League during his transportation and logistics career.

The National Industrial Transportation League was established in 1907 to represent shippers in their dealings with various regulatory bodies. In 2002, as part of its Vision 2020 initiative, NITL allowed carriers full voting membership.
