Railroad urge defeat of reregulation

Hamberger, president and ceo of the Association of American Railroads, noted that while it might be expected that the Association he heads would reject reregulation, a sizeable “outpouring of opposition to this bill comes from the railroad customer community.” Hamberger argued that deregulation – since the Staggers Rail Act of 1980 – has meant an improvement in service to railroad customers and a lowering of their rates by 60%. www.aar.org
