Schneider Logistics Inc., an international lead logistics provider and part of the Schneider National enterprise, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire American Port Services, a U.S. provider of port transloading/deconsolidation, warehousing and distribution services. Upon completion of the deal, truckload provider Schneider National will be able to offer transloading services at major U.S. ports.

"Linking the inland truckload/deconsolidation, intermodal and third-party capacity of Schneider National with American Port Services' transloading and port dray operation will create a 'port-to-door' import logistics service," says Chris Lofgren, president and CEO of Schneider National.

George Powers, American Port Services’ president, will continue to lead the Savannah, Ga.-based organization once the acquisition is finalized. The company will retain the American Port Services name and will conduct business as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schneider Logistics.

American Port Services has operations in six locations: Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston, Houston, Seattle and Long Beach. The company currently employs 800 people.
