Bill Graves, president and CEO of the ATA has asked Samuel Bodman, U.S. Secretary of Energy, for twice weekly reports on fuel prices until they stabilize. Reason is that U.S. motor carriers must base pricing decisions on their fuel costs, among other factors.

“In light of very volatile fuel prices,” Graves wrote to Bodman, “it would be extremely helpful if you directed the Energy Information Administration (EIA) to report prices twice a week. This change would provide the trucking industry with more accurate fuel pricing and help it make better business decisions.”
