Universal Truckload Service reported $213 million in third-quarter revenues, and increase of 24% over the prior-year period

Universal Truckload Service reported $213 million in third-quarter revenues, and increase of 24% over the prior-year period. Of that, truckload revenues were up 20% to $122.1 million.

Excluding data from CrossRoad Carriers, the truckload segment had a 24.6% average increase in revenue per load on a 19.9% increase in revenue per loaded mile (8% excluding fuel surcharges). Universal also had a 3.6% increase in average length of haul.

Truck brokerage revenues grew 40.7%, year-over-year, in the third quarter. Load count grew 21%, year-over-year, and revenue per load also increased nearly 21%. Intermodal revenue increased 12.2%, year-over-year, in 3Q08.
