Seems things are looking up. Around 58% of professionals felt positive about the current job market, according to a study released on August 17 from DSJ Global. This is a big difference from the report last year which found that only 36% expressed optimism.
Additionally, 63% of respondents were confident about retaining their jobs over the next six months, with a further 55% sharing a positive caliber regarding their economic expectations.
The report, DSJ Global Job Confidence Index Report engaged 1,000 supply chain and procurement professionals. The online survey ran from April to May 2021.
The index reports on professionals’ confidence in the economy, holding or getting a job, their compensation and bonus, flexible working patterns, relocation, and whether the normal bull-bear factors in employment have changed. The qualitative data were globally analyzed across three regions: Europe, Asia Pacific, and the United States.
Key findings include:
- Moving leaps and bounds: 64% of respondents are confident or very confident in their projections for the future job market.
- Healthy rewards: Well over half (54%) of professionals received a bonus award this year, which markedly climbed from 43% in 2020.
- Upward trend: Half (50%) of the global Supply Chain and Procurement workforce shared a positive sentiment regarding their job satisfaction, a direct contrast to 28% who felt unsatisfied or highly unsatisfied this year.
- Out the door: Despite this, 2 in 3 (66%) of the talent community said they would look for a new opportunity in the next 6 months.
- On the move: 74% of the global workforce indicated a willingness to relocate for the right job opportunity.
- Capital gains currency: From a global lens, high salary tops the list as the most important motivating factor, totaling in at 57%, with career progression following closely behind (56%).
- A flexible future: Procurement and Supply Chain professionals indicated a strong preference for flexible working options (58%).
