TIA Appoints Coordinators to Support “Hire Veterans” Pledge

Nov. 14, 2013
These individuals will cover six regions of the U.S. to facilitate the hiring process.

The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) announced it will develop geographically dispersed coordinators to review the industry’s progress in hiring veterans. Earlier this year, TIA Chairman and Choptank Transport Inc. President Geoff Turner pledged to hire five veterans by the end of 2014. He also challenged the TIA membership to hire 100 soldiers over that period.

These coordinators will contact TIA members to inquire if resumes have been received, interviews conducted, job offers extended or determine if any additional assistance is needed from the regional coordinators or TIA staff.

The Association announced six TIA members will be taking on this role:

Northeast: Jim Morse President and CEO of RFX Inc.

Southeast/Midwest: Ryan Hizey, Branch Manager, Atlanta, Scott Logistics Corp.

Mid/Northwest: Jimmy DeMatteis President of Des Moines Truck Brokers and Chairman of TIAPAC.

Southeast: Dick Falconer, General Manager of KMX Logistics, Inc.

Western: Alicia Ruiz, Carrier Relations Manager, with Johanson Transportation Service

Southwest: Randy Elston, President of Elston-Nationwide Carriers

Details about the program are available at the TIA Government Affairs website.
