These finding are contained in the second 2004 report from The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), “In Search of a Single Version of Truth” Strategies for Consolidating Analytic Silos.” The key driver of the move toward consolidation, according to 90% of those responding in the study, is the need for consistent data across an enterprise. Other factors were a desire to cut overhead and costs and to standardize the information technology portfolio.

While more than half (56%) of respondents have ongoing projects to consolidate analytic silos and 26% are weighing the idea, just 7% have no plans. The data is fresh, based on a survey TDWI conducted earlier this year. To learn more about the report and its conclusions, visit TDWI’s web site, www.dw-institute.com.
